This week was a great birthday week!
Thank you to every one who wished me a Happy Birthday!
So this week was really really really fun, and super
productive!!!!!
On Monday it was super super super super super super super
super super rainy and me and Elder Lydon really wanted to go outside and play
football in the rain. It was a lot of fun and we were making really cool diving
and one handed catches! Super fun!!!
Then on my birthday it was also raining very hard, but we
still managed to have fun none the less! We originally had two appointments
planned for my birthday, but they canceled. Also we were supposed to do
interviews with President but they miss informed us so we had to wait a day. So
nothing went to plan but it went really well!
The morning started with Elder Morgan making me a delicious
breakfast, with a 19 and a crown over the G. Very thoughtful
We had district meeting and I got to chose the opening and
closing hymn! My two favorites are everyone's least favorite so it was a true
testament that they love me! For those of you wondering my two favorites are
"In Our Lovely Deseret" and "Each Life that Touches Ours for Good" I just really like them in Korean!!!
Then the Elders bought me ne ne chicken for lunch!!! They
are so so nice! Then me and Elder Lydon had an appointment! The man bought us McDonalds so that was very nice!! Then we went and got dessert! Strawberry Bingsu! Its like shaved frozen milk? Super delicious!!
Then Wednesday we had interviews with President Turner and
his wife. They are so amazing and it is always fun to be with them. And after
that one of our investigators took us out to a buffet! Super super sweet! Then
we came home and opened up my presents and messed around with them while we ate
and cooked dinner.
Thursday I forgot....
Friday we had our planning session. It was amazing and
FILLED with the spirit! Most missionaries don't plan that effectively and they
actually dread doing it and get very distracted. But me and Elder Lydon decided
to really buckle down and do it right. And there were miracles all night!!! As
we sought inspiration from the Lord, he blessed us to know how to help our
investigators. What to teach them and what to commit them to do. It was
amazing. I wish you could have all been in that room with us!
Saturday another HUGE miracle happened!! So me
and Elder Lydon planned to go outside and proselyte right after English class
from 4:30 till 9. But we woke up to a text that we will be doing service from
4:30-5:30 sports till 6:30 dinner till 7:30 and more service till 8. So our
night was over. So we decided we were going to try to fit 5 hours worth of work
into 3 hours..... very very tight. We had to be back at 3 o'clock for English
class, but had to do studies and lunch so we didn't get out till 12.
The place we were going was supposed to be a 20 minute
drive. As I sat on the bus, 20 minutes passed. Then 30. And finally at about
40 minutes we were one stop away. 12:45. HOW WERE WE GOING TO DO
EVERYTHING?????
We had 3 people to visit. Each about a 10 minute walk from
each other, but as missionaries you talk to every one you see.... so more like
20 minutes. If we talk to everyone that's at least 10 minutes a person! The last
stop is 20 minutes from the bus. The bus comes ever 20 minutes. It is almost a
40 minute bus ride. We need to prep for English class and that takes 15
minutes. So if I haven't completely forgotten math yet, that's trying to fit 3
hours and 5 minutes worth and we only had 2 hours and 15 minutes............
I was stressed!!!! So I made a plea to God, with as much
faith as I could muster. I told Him I would walk as fast as I could, talk to
every person I could, and follow ever spiritual prompting I get. AND most
importantly I told him I would trust Him. That after all I can do, he would
help us get to English class on time.
The bus stopped, the doors opened and I was nearly running
up the street. I talked to every person. Followed every prompting. And was
trusting and praying the whole time. We got to the first persons house. Then
the next. Then the last. Then time to get to the bus stop. Miraculously we were
sitting at about 2:10. Way ahead of schedule. We are walking so fast to the bus
stop, not completely sure where it is... and I just get a feeling to run. So I
start running. Elder Lydon is now chasing. We run. We get to the main road. We
run up and cross the street using a bridge overpass thingey. We get on the
other side of the street and I kid you not, not even one step after the stairs we
hear honking. I see one of our English class members and our 1st councilor in
the bishopric. He tells us to get in. And he drives us to the church. We make
every light and get there at 2:45. Prep English class and start right at
3.
Wow. Super. Amazing.
I almost broke down in the car. God watched out for me and
He answered my prayer.
SO much to learn from this, but I'll just share a few.
1. God hears our pleas.
He heard and answered. We got to English class on time and
were able to visit all 3 people.
2. He cares about everything in our life.
Is getting to some English class on a random Saturday on
time really that important? No. But it was important to me, so it was important
to my Heavenly Father.
3. We need to do our part.
Do you think if I would have walked slow to everyone's house,
took my time, that we would have been blessed like we were? No. I was sweating
so so so hard. My legs were killing!!! I was so thirsty. I did everything I
could to be on time.
4. WE ABSOLUTELY 100% CAN TRUST THE LORD.
He loves us. He hears us always. He always answers.
Sometimes not so obvious or in the way we expect but He answers.
I hope we all remember this and I hope you all have a very
great week!
