Week 15

January 22, 2017

Well this week was pretty plain and honestly not much happened. It was pretty busy and for once me and Elder Ryu had some appointments and teaching.

So on Sunday I didn't finish but basically I decided that I want to put God first. Be focused on the more important things in life. I have been thinking about my job and the future and money and the future and stuff like that, and I just had the thought on Sunday it doesn't matter as long as you put God first and rely on him. I found that to be true later on in the week when we met with our bishop.
He took us to a meat buffet that was literally the greatest place ever! It was about 80$ a person and there were 8 of us! He is super rich and he bore his testimony on why. He said he started off as a patent lawyer and he was struggling a lot! He was finding no success and praying for help. His first contract was for 50$ and he was so thankful. He knew it was from God and he always acknowledged Him. He kept working, kept praying and stayed humble. Now he is one of the richest men in Korea. He patented Lord of the Rings in Korean and the biggest restaurant in Korea! He is like a billionaire! His house it easily 5 million dollars and he took us to a 500$ restaurant. But he said it was all because of God and because he relied on Him and recognized Him. It was a super great night and super inspiring.

Also some things that happened this week started with a surprise exchange.  I went to the Songnam area and was with Elder Bratt. He was super cool and we taught a lot of people and I learned a lot from him. He also had a guitar and ukulele so we played around on those! I miss them tons and he had an extra guitar that he is going to give me! I'm very happy about that.

Also Elder Young has something going on in his stomach so he has been going to the hospital and they thought he would need surgery so that has been pretty crazy and has been pretty stressful.

But on Saturday be had a baptism for one of the coolest investigator I have ever met! 박지영. She is super fun and cool and it was a great baptism. We had snacks after and it was super cool! I was bonding with members a lot and I didn't feel as left out and sad. It was really great! The youth are super cool and we were messing around and teaching them funny English slang and stuff. They are really cool!

Then we had a meeting with our investigator named Daniel. He lived in Canada for a while and set up a meeting with him. He is so cool! He told us he is the most open man in Korea! After we talked about Joseph Smith he said I believe it! It makes sense and it feels right! He was very receptive and I am super excited about him!

One thing I really struggled with this week was motivation. It is really hard for me to stay motivated and work my hardest every day and be the best I can. I haven't really been feeling like a missionary and I have been trying to get and keep the drive to work harder. I know this time as a missionary is short and I don't want to waste so I have been making goals and trying to improve. I don't want to step off the plane in 20 months and have a single regret so I have been working on that a lot this week!.

This week as I took the sacrament I thought about Christ a lot and am so grateful for his sacrifice. I felt so much peace and forgiveness as I took the sacrament and I am so grateful for it! I know Christ lived died and lives for us! I love him and he loves us. I know that with all my heart!

Have a great week!
Elder Goon
